 Our Approach

This project addresses four major needs that have been identified by the industry.

These are water and nutrient management, stormwater monitoring (which is enabled by the technology), an economic assessment of the costs of technology and the associated benefits, and how we can lower the cost of the technology for widespread use.

However, these four needs are not the only applications for wireless sensor networks in these environments – equally important are energy costs (for greenhouse growers), labor and management costs (for larger container and field nursery operations) and integrated disease and pest management, which of course are important for every grower.
